New Workplace products and a sneak preview of Notes/Domino R7 raise the bar for collaboration tools.
On January 23, IBM announced
availability of new releases of its core IBM Workplace products, including
Workplace Collaboration Services 2.6, Workplace Managed Client 2.6, Workplace
Forms 2.6, and Workplace Designer 2.6. The 2.6 versions of these products
include more than 50 new features and functions, including enhancements to
cross-platform and open standards support. Along with WebSphere Portal, the
Workplace products help provide the front-end to IBM's service-oriented
architecture (SOA) strategy. Read the full announcement here.
In other news on January 23, IBM provided a "sneak peak" of new features in
the next major release of Notes/Domino, due out in 2007. New programs, Business
Partner offerings, and platform support will extend the value of the platform,
help increase productivity, and lower costs for Lotus customers and Business
Partners. IBM is evolving and extending the Notes/Domino platform to include new
services and functions designed to increase performance and provide customers
with flexibility and more options. Moreover, customers will have a choice of
multiple computing and browser platforms (including Firefox, Internet Explorer,
Windows, Macintosh, and Linux) and a wide variety of upcoming support for mobile
solutions. Read the full announcement
