Akonix Systems, Inc. was founded in early 2000 with a vision that Instant Messaging (IM) and other emerging real-time communications technologies were going to become a critical part of the corporate communications infrastructure. In 2004 there are an estimated 364 million corporate users of IM. This year, Gartner Group named IM as the Number One Technology to Watch for 2005. Virtually every organization (over 90% according to Osterman Research) has Instant Messaging users within their network.
