Undecided about what technology to use for Web development? Discover the Grails open-source framework that provides rapid application development for Web applications. This presentation taught by Don Denoncourt will show you how to generate a maintenance application for legacy IBM i files in five minutes. You will see how Grails is built on top of the best-of-breed Java frameworks.

The seminar describes how to program Grails with the intuitive JVM language called Groovy. You will also see how to use Eclipse, WDSc, or RDi SOA as your IDE. Finally, the seminar also describes how to deploy Grails to any Web application server (such as WebSphere or Tomcat) on your favorite platform.

Among the many other new offerings on the Manta site are the following:

Control Language Programming—Learn modern CL programming techniques with Manta's CL Programming series. This series has recently been updated for IBM i 7.1.

Aaron Bartell's Tidbits of Goodies—Have you been using RDP, RDi, or WDSC and are looking for the little tidbits to make you even more productive? Or, maybe you are looking for the reason to actually switch over from SEU? No matter the cause, join Aaron as he describes what he loves best in WDSc/RDi/RDP and how he customizes the product to best suit his needs. Over 40 tips are presented. The goal of this seminar is to help you become a more efficient user of the application and provide your company a serious return on investment.

Web Development Boot Camp—Moving to the Web? This workshop, which spans four days, covers everything you need to implement a Web-based application using your existing IBM i system. You will see how to create your own web documents using HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript. You will also learn how to set up the IBM HTTP Server for i (powered by Apache) to run a typical web site that includes both static and dynamic web pages. The workshop also covers how to use Ajax techniques to enhance the user's web experience and how to create server-based applications using CGI programs written in RPG.
