Join Chris Smith, senior news editor, MC Press Online, and Orlando Ferrer, vice president operations, inFORM Decisions, for a discussion of green technology in IT at a meeting of The Science Cafe in Oceanside, Calif., Saturday, July 19, at 3 p.m. at the Barnes and Noble bookstore, 2615 Vista Way (Oceanside), 760-529-0106.

Ferrer will discuss how his company spent a year evaluating choices for his company to make in order to reduce its carbon footprint.

Smith will discuss trends underway today to reduce energy in data centers and how information technology as an industry is addressing the needs to slow climate change, reduce energy costs, and limit the growth in power requirements.

Attendees are encouraged to share their experiences addressing climate change and what they are doing to reduce their carbon footprint.
