JustSystems to Bring Service-Oriented Content to 2008 Web Services on Wall Street Presentation Revealing How Its “Document as Application” Vision and SOA Deliver Unified, Dynamic Documents

JustSystems, Inc., the largest independent software vendor in Japan and a worldwide leader in XML and information management technologies has announced it is bringing service-oriented content to the 2008 Web Services/SOA on Wall Street Show & Conference to be held February 11, 2008, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.

In addition to speaking at the show, JustSystems will be exhibiting in booth 217.

During the 1:30 pm presentation, “Leveraging SOA to Unify Access to Content and Data,” Jake Sorofman, senior vice president of marketing and business development for JustSystems, will discuss how the company’s recently announced “document as application” initiative works with SOA to deliver unified, dynamic documents that give brokers, analysts, clients and other financial users unified, real-time, fully contextual views of their business. (See related announcement, “JustSystems Champions ‘The Document as the Application’” at http://na.justsystems.com/releases.php?id=153).

“On Wall Street, data changes constantly and working with information that is out of date and out of context carries a high price,” said Sorofman. “As financial institutions continue to adopt XML and create reusable SOA-based business services, there’s a powerful new opportunity to evolve documents from snapshots in time to fully dynamic and authoritative reflections of the most up to date information available. SOA enables dynamic documents—and dynamic documents enable more efficient and lower risk information publishing and document-centric business processes.”

“Leveraging SOA to Unify Access to Content and Data” SOA has somewhat of a data obsession, focusing on structured and transactional data and processes, rather than documents and document-centric processes. This session addresses how this emphasis on data is beginning to change. Traditionally, the domains of documents and data have been isolated from one another. Data is stored in relational databases, mainframe systems and data warehouses.

Documents are kept in content management systems, shared file servers and local drives. Typically, structured data is focused on the “what” of a business — financial information, inventory, etc. Documents are typically focused on the “why” and the “how”— manuals, policies, reports, analysis, etc. Data is structured and empirical. Documents are unstructured and contextual.

The reality is that business is done at the intersection of “what,” “why” and “how” — where fact meets context. Many organizations now recognize this artificial separation and are seeking ways to unify these two worlds and looking to SOA as the means for doing so.
