COMMON Webinar

ILE Essentials for RPG Programmers

Presenter: Susan Gantner

Partner400

12:00 noon--1:15pm CT Mondays - April 28 and May 5, 12, 19

In this four-part webinar, we will examine the essential information you need to know about using ILE and RPG in today's modular applications.

In the first session, we'll look at the basics of writing RPG subprocedures - the building blocks for modular applications.

In the second session, we'll see how ILE's static binding allows you to put the pieces together efficiently. We will discuss creating modules, bound programs and Service Programs as well as creating and using Binding Directories.

In the third session, we'll look at modifying our subprocedures to put them into a Service Program and how to use Binder Language to manage the Service Program's signatures over its lifetime.

And in the last session, we'll explore Activation Groups and how they affect the scope of overrides and shared open data paths within the applications. In addition, we'll look at which default parameter values you may need to consider changing in order to allow your new ILE programs to live in peace with existing non-ILE programs.

Join Susan to begin your journey to developing modular ILE applications with RPG!

Registration includes access to the four webcasts listed above, handouts for each webcast, and access to a collaborative website on iSociety for discussion and offline support.
