If you are basically archiving reports why not convert them to PDF. If you are not at V5R1 this will not work. There is a set of License programs (I can't recall them right now) that are needed for this feature. They are not that expensive around $2,000-3,000. At the last place I worked they had a similar problem. We decided to start archiving the reports and putting them on the IFS and eventually to CD/DVD. This allowed the users to reprint any report they archived without having to re-engineer the report.

We are using CPYSPLF to a PF to save some of our reports for printing at a later time. We currently have to run the PF through a COBOL program in order to reprint with the correct spacing. We need to add more reports to the process and was wondering if anybody knew of a way to restore those PF's to a spoolfile automatically, ie. a reversal of CPYSPLF to PF. Using CPYF to *PRINT is not an option since you loose spacing/font info.
