Remove the keyboard! No, but seriously, I was faced with this quite a long time ago. I never found a method around "allowing" the keyboard to be used. Except when the materials supervisor has me create a barcode with the user id and password, no HRI, and he did lock the keyboard in a tray. Btw, only he had the key! So, the pickers would scan the user id barcode, the password barcode, and away they would go.

I am developing some RPGLE screens for our barcode system. Is there a way to force users to scan a barcode into a 5250 field and not allow them to enter the data into the field with the scanner keyboard? Users are creating errors by entering the data instead of scanning. Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the response. I found the solution in the SDA "Keying Options" for the field. I set the "Keyboard Shift Attribute" to 'I'. the definition for 'I' is "Inhibit any data typing, allow feature devices." I am using the Symbol MC9090 scanner.
