FWIW, IBM has been able to duplicate the problem and they are working on a fix. They also determined that the problem exists only with zoned decimal fields - packed fields work o.k..

We are placing a call to IBM about this, but thought I would post here and see if anyone has any ideas. This SQL statement - SELECT * FROM PROVIDERS WHERE PROVID=124 and this SQL statement - SELECT * FROM PROVIDERS WHERE PROVID=1000000124 return the same results, even though PROVID is 7.0 and 1000000124 is longer than 7.0. This happens when run from an ODBC connection and when run from STRSQL. We recently upgraded to 5.1 and (to our knowledge) did not have this problem in 4.5. We have run the STROBJCNV, so that is not the problem. Any ideas? Thanks, Joe

I got a voice mail from IBM that they have fixed the problem and a ptf will be available in a day or two. Joe
