How do I ??? paste over text in the editor????

I guess my problem is: When pasting, the editor switches to Insert mode. How do i stop that from happening?

been trying for hours... I am in rectangle mode... suppose i have this text "populated from dataareas " I just want to substitute the word "dataareas" with "the ABCDEFG Data Queue", which i just happen to have in the "Copy" part of the clipboard... so now i'm looking to paste it over 'dataareas' Normally, in Windows, i would hilight 'dataareas', and paste. Voila. I make sure i'm in 'replace' mode, but when i paste it goes to insert mode. so i end up with "populated from the ABCDEFG Data Queue dataareas " anyone have similar problems???

Having copied the text, position the cursor and then use: Edit -> Block -> Overlay You obviously need to be careful with regard to overlaying different length blocks Hope this is what you are looking for Patrick
