Can anyone point me to an FAQ or answers in this list for install problems on NT related to not being able to use the product if not an administrator. Does the issue still exist in V5 Code/400 and if so how do I cure it.

Jon, My workaround (not in a faq that I know of) is to copy the registry tree under software/ibm to the user side (there is an option to export/import in regedit). I know I have had to do this, but checking the machine I see any HKEY_CURRENT_USER entries related to code, they are all under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, which seems like it should work. I have also had to add add the environment variables if copying the registry directly doesn't pick up them up. David Morris

Hi Jon, Here's an excerpt from a README (I believe the install instructions) for the V4R5M1 release (You should check V5R1, but if I recall properly, you don't have to worry about the system variables, but you still need to be a Power User - it has to do with the ability to read/write registry keys): Who can install and who can use WDT/400 on Windows 2000 and NT. An Administrator must install the product on a workstation. This is a requirement in Windows 2000 and NT. The same administrator must ensure the system variables described in the table below are set. The workstation must be rebooted after the variables are set. Only PowerUsers and Administrators can use the product From Control Panel->System->Environment->Add or append to the following System Variables x: refers to the drive where the product is installed. System variable name: must include this entry: CLASSPATH x:wdt400java HELP x:wdt400help IPF_PATH32 x:wdt400system LOCPATH x:wdt400system PATH x:wdt400 Violaine Batthish Toronto Lab, IBM Canada
