DOWK has been hammered many times on the 400 fora. Do a search on 'day of week' . Some of the latest versions of RPG evidently have a fairly complete set of date functions. If you're just looking for something to program, search the www for "Zeller's Congruence" . If you still need help, e-mail me at roberth@utdallas.edu and I'll help you. bobh

Bob's right, that topic appears weekly. Here is a routine I have.

I saw an example in IBM's Red book entitled Who Knew You Could Do that with RPG IV. The book can be down loaded for free. I think it was in the Sub procedures section.

There are probably as many DOWK routines as there are Loan Amortization routines. I have one also in a SP.

I need a routine that will give me the day of the week based on any given date.

If you do a search on day of the week or "day of the week" you get "no matches found". I guess that means we can't light the fireplace. The acronym DOWK just never occured to me (what with the 5 or 6 new ones every day). Thanks very much to the couple of replies that helped. Vaughn
