Printer attachment

I have several printers attached to the AS400 through Novell. Now I am told that we are getting rid of Novell so it is my job to change these printers to IP attachment. The only thing I have come up with so far is to create a new outq description; if I do that then end-users will have to change their sessions where they have the outq defined and I would like to avoid that if possible. Any thoughts?? Dave

Hi there Dave. I have gone through this. To assist your transition to the new printer topology, you can delete the NOVELL—AS/400 printer. Then create the AS/400 IP printer with the same name. The user can still use the same name and direct jobs to it that way. A couple things to keep in mind is the page rotation and condensed print out VIA IP. You will have problems with pre-printed forms. Your question is vague on how users are involved. If your fearfull of deleting, as I was at first, rename the novell printer and create the new one with the correct name. Good luck. Albert
