Hi Brian. If you have had these up and running for a while, I would have someone come in with a spectrum analyzer and determine if you are getting some "bleed over" from a radio station, airport or possibly Electromagnetic Interference from machinery. If these are fairly new in your environment, some things to look for are 1) Cardboard Boxes - These suck up RF energy. 2) Antenna range - Did the vendor configure your system okay 3) Motor Noise or other EM producing equipment 4) proximity to radio stations, airports, Cell towers or Rap Music :) -Mean 1

I agree with the Mean 1 about checking those items. A comment about the VLAN situation: our network group had set up a similar environment but after trying many different management tools and ideas, it was taken out. It caused too much trouble for them to manage and whenever a device on the network was moved, it took a while to come back online once plugged back into the network. VLAN had too much trouble handling this. It wasn't quick to respond more or less. It wouldn't let a device back in until it re-registered it to a new network port. I'm glad it's gone.

Hi Mean 1 We are way beyond those types of issues the system was up and running and is up and running in other locations with no issues. The issues only started 1 day after the VLAN was put in - cisco 2950 swithes etc. 802.1q. We have spanning tree enabled on the AP's and not the switches Bridging enabled on all AP's except the master which is set to disabled. I found today that the local IS in that country is using ghost to image drives across switches which I believe is flooding the ports and dropping the access points which may explain some of my random entire system drops. What is concerning me now is the error I am getting from the previous post which may be the Character set being used by the emulation in that if you do a system request or att. on the device the AS/400 does not recognise it. So possibly the characters that are sent are not what are expected.. Thanks for the info so far... Brian

I am having a problem with one of my RF installations in that the following is happening.. Users are loosing sessions and the following message is in the job log.. */ 40 09/10/02 14:52:38 QWSGET QSYS 2E63 QWSGET CPF5411 Escape Message . . . . : System failure on device RFMATV156 with feedback code 00000110. Cause . . . . . : The feedback code received on device RFMATV156 was no correct or not expected. Recovery . . . : Close the file and try the request again. If the device is an *IPDS printer, power the device off clear the problem. For display devices, an entry has been created in th Problem Log. Use the Work with Problem (WRKPRB) command to find the pro and analyze it. For other devices, use the Analyze Problem (ANZPRB) com to determine the error. This is happening a great deal anyone have any thoughts Protocol UDP/Plus emulation te2000 Problem started after a VLAN infrastructure was put in but the network guys.... Thanks Brian

Hi Todd Just a follow-up on VLAN's and RF What I found was that the Vendor product .. 1. Supports Cisco Switches 2. Supports VLAN 3. Does not support VLAN in CISCO Switches. 4. Does support VLANS in other vendor switches ..... The CISCO switches were installed after the RF infrastructure without Vendor or my consultation.. Bottom line from my network guys it is the Vendors and my fault that the system does not work.....Figure that one out.... Oh and maybe we should replace our vendor with another one that has a working CRYSTAL BALL
