Have you tried using the DMPTAP command to display the tape lables? Dave

I haven't tried that yet. I did display the tape *lables and the tapes do have *SL. The tapes seem to be just fine but when a CLP reads an input file to load a listing of libraries to transfer from save files to tape, the error occurs. And what is really wierd is that not all of the save files do this. I am going to try recreating the save files in question to see if the problem goes away. Thanks, Scott

Has anyone ever experienced this one? My nightly backup program began having a problem last night. I have a CL that reads a file. The records are libraries that need to be saved. Each library is saved into a save file. Then the save files are saved onto tape with the SAVSAVFDTA command. Half way through the read file I began getting the error CPF4290 - Lables not found while processing file. The file in question appars to be QSYS/QSYSTAP. This began for no apparent reason. I tried rebuilding the file and recompiling the program to no avail. The tape itself wasn't bad because when I manually saved each savefile to tape, it worked perfectly. Any ideas? Thanks. Scott

The problem is resolved. I deleted and recreated the save files in question. For some strange reason, this fixed the problem. These save files have been used for several years before and never had a problem until yesterday. One special note, I did find that one of the save files was damaged. The damaged save file just happened to be the first save file in a series of files that wouldn't work. Not sure if that is related to the whole problem or not. Scott
