Hi Steve, According to what you show from SST, you have a bad drive (DD017). Once it's replaced and data is allowed to rebuild, your parity protection will restart on its own. While in SST you can view the hardware error log for mag media to verify and see exactly when the drive failure occured and what the system says the problem is (or thinks it is). HTH, Steve

Steve, Depending upon your release, you can also re-try starting the protecion on the drive using StrSST. This will allow you to recover from the error without IPLing. Hi Steve, Very sorry, but your disk DD017 is really bad and the rest 9 disks, which are in RAID5 with this are with lost protection too. You can check with WRKDSKSTS command (F11). Check the history log for message CPPEA05 to determine when this happened. I had the same problem 5 times on our new 820 iSeries. This disk must be physically changed. Mira B.

The machine has not been IPL'ed since this status occurred. Thanks for the help

Steve, As far as I know, position doesn't matter in a Raid-5 set. Bill > When I replace the drive since it is the drive in the first position will everthing rebuild or will I need to do a restore from a system save.
