If you are downloading the file as text, you should be able to inspect the data using Notepad, or Wordpad. A quick inspection will reveal if data is being truncated. Dave

Michael, If you are downloading as ASCII Text, try BASIC Random. Bill "Michael Soucy" <Michael_Soucy@mcpressonline.com> wrote in message news:3d9cee53.-1@WebX.WawyahGHajS... > I am experiencing a problem when I download a file from our iSeries using Client Access Express V5R1. The file that I am downloading is a file for reporting W2s from our Infinium payroll system which has a record length of 512 characters. When I test my downloaded file using a program called ACCUWAGE I get an error. The program looks for a file with a record length of 512. The program halts at the first record, and says that the record length of the file is 500 characters. Is there a setting in Client Access Express to prevent it from truncating the file at the last non blank character? I have tried calling Infinium tech support, and they say it's a Client Access problem.

After making a call to IBM tech support, they told us that there is a properties button related to the download file type of text file. When you click on the properties button a pop up window shows up with three properties including one for truncating blank characters, which is checked as the default. I unchecked this property, and it worked like a charm. Just thought you all might what to know.
