We Use PPP to dial in to the AS/400 (V4R3). It was set up using Operations Navigator. The problem is that every time we IPL we have to go back into Operations Navigator and start the session to tell it to Wait for A call. It seems like there should be something that can be put in the startup program so that this will start automatically. Can anyone tell me what this command is and where it should be placed in the startup command sequence? Thanks in advance for your help. Esther Van Bronkhorst

Esther, You should be able to get the line to start automatically when you start TCP/IP. From Ops Nav, go to the line you configured and select connection. Next, in the link configuration, select open. From there check the box marked Make available on restart. I am usually trying to prevent a line from starting automatically, but as I recall that box usually defaults to checked and I have had to uncheck it. David Morris

Thanks for your input David. Line is varied on after IPL, but it does not go to waiting for a call. Checked the settings that I could find, but did not see anything to tell it to start the waiting for a call job. But maybe for security reasons I should leave it alone. Esther

Esther, No startup program is required. For dial-up connections over a regular phone line, set the line description as follows: ONLINE(*YES) and ANSTYP(*DTR). If the line status does not go to "Connect Pending", there must be an error message in QSYSOPR.
