Is there any way (API's I assume) to display some or all of the information you see when using WRKLNK followed by the 8=Display attributes option. I would like to interrogate these attributes in a program I am writing. Thanks Dale

Dale, Yes there is a whole set of API's for the IFS. While I have a program that reads from the IFS, I do not have a example of what you want. At one time I could have given you the URL for the IFS API manual. <font color="RED">"RANT ON"</font> But IBM has once again moved the manuals someplace. When will they get it through their thick heads, A lot of customers depend on those manuals being available. If they have moved the manuals to the Information Center, I am going to be very disappointed. I do not like the Info Center navigation. To put it mildly, IT SUCKS. <font color="RED"> "RANT OFF" </font> I wish to apologize in advance if I have offended anyone. Jerry Hensley Peerless Chain

Okay, I got off my High Horse and found the URL: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com:80/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/QB3AUH02/CONTENTS That will get you to the table of contents. This will get you to the API section: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com:80/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/QB3AUH02/4.2 Hope this helps. Jerry Hensley

Dale, I've attached a piece of code using the stat function, which should give you the information you want. Best regards, Carsten Flensburg
