We have devices out in the field that dial into a PC and upload files into Procomm Plus with ZMODEM protocall. These files are then passed to our 400 and processed. I am in the process of writing a program to handle the communications and to process the data in a single step. Would appreciate any tips, comments, suggestions on how to make this happen.

I'd recommend ZMOD400 from Trailblazer Systems. I used it at a previous job and it worked like a champ. In that scenario users dialed in to what amounts to an AS400 based BBS. After passing through sign-on prompts they were presented with a menu where they could transfer (either way) various files. If my memory is correct, programs could be run as well. Why go through the hassle of ASCII screen escape codes and code-it-yourself ZMODEM when you can get it off the shelf? Tom
