Do you have any of the following AS/400 courses to sell to me for less than I would pay if I buy new? Automated Training Systems (ATS) is the provider of these courses with audio cassette, workbook, and hands-on-AS400 software. The courses I want to buy are: - Entry Level RPG - RPG/400 Programming - RPG/400 Interactive Programming - Control Language Programming - CL and Programming Techniques Thanks, clara_stella@hotmail.com

Clara, If you go to the MC Home Page, http://www.midrangecomputing.com, you will see advertisements for Books, CD-Roms, Videos and Audio courses. There is an entry for ATS as well, which offers around $1,000.00 dollars off of RPG programming to include Subfiles. The bundle was around $5,300.00 if I remember correctly. There are also some fine CDs and printed material (books) from the likes of Earny Malaga (sp) and others. I have browsed the books and purchased a few over the years, but I've been doing RPG since 1983. The books which caught my attention were Subfiles, System Security (Wayne Evans, I believe) and a couple of others. If you want good information on RPG programming and especially Subfiles, I suggest the Subfiles for RPG programmers. I would also take a good look at the SUBFILE programming "class" that MC ran over several issues a few years ago. As for CL, I don't know that I would spend a fortune on CL classes. All CL does is group the commands you want into one compiled program. I would start someone out creating simple CL programs to call programs, with emphasis on STRPGM, ENDPGM, PARM, OVRDBF, OVRPRTF, CALL, CALL with PARM, and then let them explore and come to you with questions. In a nutshell, it is not the knowledge of the entry level programmer you hire (or are, if the query is for yourself) but rather, the ability of the individual to learn the basics, and then explore and put things together for themselves. Hope this helps, Bret Myrick
