My solution is to use a folder in QDLS set up as a network drive. Various applications put files in the folder that are then accessible from the PCs. My problem is that the network drive path is lost when the PC is shut down, and if I check "Reconnect at logon" the PC crashes (actually it keeps rebooting when the connecting dialog comes up when it tries to reestablish the network drive). It is rediculous to have to rekey a long path name every time one wants to access the network drive. Am I missing something here? Thanks. Fred: When I had to keep track of such things, I wasn't keeping track for download but to determine which folders I could automatically delete files from. However, the idea I think is the same - where to keep a fairly static piece of information. A couple of ideas - either a file or a data area. I used a file, even if it had only one record in it. Some other people suggested the use of a data area for this purpose. In my case, I had to be able to use the same programs on different systems, so the file gave me more flexibility. So, it had only a single record in the file on some systems, and multiple records in others. Does this help, or have I missed the point? Debbie Gallagher

Fred, What version of CA are you using, what is the service pack level, and how are you connecting ( NS/Router,TCPIP,...)? All of these are factors when trying to determine the problem. As a starting place I would suggest that you get the latest SP for your version. This problem was common with earlier versions of XD1 using the NS/Router, but has been resolved in newer versions/Service packs. If you do upgrade to R313, be sure to get the latest SP for that version also.
HTH

color="#800080" size="4"> Phillip E.
