Any comments/suggestions/ideas? Our SAV backups of the IFS take quite a while (8 hours). We are just trying out a much faster tape drive, and it still takes a long time, while other backups (QSYS.LIB via SAVLIB and QDLS via SAVDLO) are faster than they were before. We're excluding QSYS and QDLS from the SAV. At last count, via Ops Nav listing, the IFS file system has 134,000 files in 3,200 folders, taking up about 43GB, for an average file size of 320K. We have 200GB of disk at 75% utilization, so the QSYS and QDLS systems take up the remaining 100GB. The backup has about 1.6GB of memory available to it (out of 3GB), and appears to allocate about 1GB of the 1.6 while running. V4R4, current cume, 2-CPU 720. Would SAV try to backup the /QOPT directory if it weren't excluded? We have a big jukebox. We don't know exactly what the SAV backs up, only that we get CPF3837 "nnnnn objects saved, nnnnn not saved". (Not literally "nnnnn", but a number.) I only just last night tried doing error logging to a streamfile, but I'm still trying to figure out how to interpret/parse the contents.... Thanks, Ken
