Has anyone managed to get a set of database files from a collection file? I have repeatedly requested for database files to be constructed but the actual database files are never created. If anyone can offer any assistance I would be most grateful. Regards

You have this posted under Client Access, but you seem to be referring to SQL terminology. They are not necessarily exclusive of each other since IBM provides an ODBC driver that allows transparent SQL statements from the PC to the 400. When you say "get a set of database files", exactly how are you trying to "get" them? When you say you have "requested for database files to be constructed", how are you attempting this? Maybe if you were a bit more explicit in how you are attempting to achieve your results, we might be able to help you further. Also, any error messages you are receiving would be appropriate to be included as well. Bill

Sorry, after re-reading the post I realise it's not too clear. I am refering to performance collection services within management central. I am aware that the terms used in my previous post are refering to SQL terminology however, these are the terms used by IBM on both the menus and the associated help text (which doesn't help). I am requesting the "database" files to be created by 'right clicking' on a collection file and selecting the "Create Database Files" option. I am then presented with the usual screens requesting the target path to save the performance database files etc. Once the selections have been made I click on OK and am told "the creation of database files for collection XXXXXXXX has been submitted". There are no error messages or any mesages in QSYSOPR of QHST relating to the request and no job name, number etc is indicated therefore I cannot track the job. However, the database files never appear in my specified target. I hope this goes some way to clarify my problem. Many thanks

Yeah, everything makes sense now. The only problem is that I have no idea what could be wrong. Hopefully someone else has worked with this feature, I haven't. Bill
