I received this email from a reader today and I'm stumped. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be. TIA Joe Hertvik Editor-AS/400 Network Expert hertvik@midrangecomputing.com <a > target=_new href="http://www.midrangeocmputing.com/ane"><a target=_new > href="http://www.midrangeocmputing.com/ane">http://www.midrangeocmputing.com/an e</a></a> "We have a AS/400 S20 9406 that routinely drops its mainframe connection to DB2 (DB2HOSTP CTL) every night. The system value for retries is set at 5 in 10 minutes, but most times it take a manual restart in wrkcfgsts *ctl. IBM has found no hardware problems and we have applied every PTF they have suggested to no avail. Have you heard of similar instances elsewhere. This happens every night at 1:00 a.m. just after our backup starts but were not sure this isn't just a coincidence, we have tried different times for the backup and the controller still goes down aroun 1:00 a.m. We are now highly suspect it is more mainframe related, perhaps in the configuration of the network in particular the OSA card. Can you please comment!! Thanks, I have been asking everywhere for help!! and suggestions."
