I am considering a position with Jacada here in Atlanta. I have heard the name over and over, but I've never worked with their people or product before. Anyone have any scoop?

"I am considering a position with Jacada here in Atlanta. I have heard the name over and over, but I've never worked with their people or product before. Anyone have any scoop?" They have an innovative product (called Innovator, ironically) that stems from their days as CST and the GuiSys green screen gui'izer. They have sharp technical leadership and strong marketing, and have got where they are without riding IBM's coat tails as Seagull did. The Jacada product idea is along the lines of what the future of the AS/400 interface needs to be, but they have applied for an inappropriate patent on using AS/400 internals to determine what kind of client is signed on. Let me see, is it a green screen or a Java app?....yeah, that's an appropriate patent....I hope the Jacada lawyers are beating the bushes with the IBM "e"server lawyers soon looking for honest work.... The Jacada interface has now advanced to generating Java programs with Java source code that can be customized, according to their press. I haven't seen the product since GuiSys days. They have a decent shot at surviving, but I wouldn't invest any money in a company whose product is a green screen replacement. The market is too fragmented and nobody is moving on this issue.....existing green screen systems perform the traditional function well and I haven't seen a rush on new green screen systems lately. Jacada's prime reference was a huge insurance software vendor, PSMC, that changed their name to Mynd as they tried to redo their system with Jacada and survive. They're now bankrupt.... Any experience you get working for Jacada would be valuable long term. Just consider it like the others do when they work for dot coms. By the way, what kind of position are you considering with them? Ralph email@example.com
