Is it possible to use a web browser to connect to an AS400? I think the answer is probably "no", but I've been asked and I can't seem to come with a reason why I don't think it's possible. Are there any alternatives to Rumba and Client Access? Telnet? Kate

You can use Workstation Gateway (WSG), but it's not really good enough to give to users. There are various other products; do a search on "Browser AND 5250"...

Client Access is in Alpha Testing with this now. http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/clientaccess/beta/webaccess.htm

The answer to your question is yes. It doesn't even require any special code on your PC client other than a browser. The product we use is from Mocha and it is a java applet that is served to the browser and opens a tn5250 window. It was cheap ($250) and easy to install.
