You may have to set the font, lines, CPI, etc. from the printer itself. Dave

They tried that and 'supposedly' it still wrapped lines. I found that the printer can use an Epson or Okidata mode and that it was compatible with an IBM 2380 +. I will try putting in a manufacturer and if that doesn't work the Okidata mode. The report prints fine on the equivalent Okidata printers.

I'v got the Espson 880+ in IBM PPDS mode. The printing looks better but it is still wrapping. The last character printed on the line is position 96. The spool file is defined at 132 but the last printed column is 101. I notice that when I set the printer to to USD or HSD when the report prints it prints using Sans Seriff. Could this be the problem? I know that this report prints correctly on an Okidata printer (basically an equivalent). I have defined basically a remote printer with the manufacture model of *IBM2380 (like the epson book says this mode emulates). I there something I am missing on the out queue definition or on the printer set up? I only 2 options on the printer. These were Software and IBM Character Table (someone changed it from TABLE2 to TABLE1, I put it back to the default value. Please help, the RX department and Nurses really need this. Are you printing from a dumb terminal or are you using a PC based emulation software?

The printer was attached via a network card (ethernet). we have since removed it and put an IBM 6400 in it's place. The IBM printer not only prints faster but prints everything as we originally had it (no wrapping and no changing the CPI) To answer your question, we had it set up as an output queue, we ran a job in batch that put the spool file in the output queue. the iSeries print facilities took over from there.

We are using an Epson printer to print a specific report from the iSeries. When the report prints it wraps on the printer. The report is a standard report (66 x 132, overflow 56, lpi 6, cpi 12). When the report is printed on an Okidata it prints fine. Is there a problem with Epson printers on the iSeries (we are at V4R5). I don't have the model number at this time but it is a line printer (about 1 yr old) (Epson FX-880+.) Has anybody experienced the same problem? How do I get the report to print properly? TIA

LPR/LPD printing is not a very good way to print, there is a protocoll called TN5250E TCP/IP based and will work very simular to SNA printing. With TN5250E the settings from the AS/400 will go to the printer, out of papper will go back to the AS/400. There are a couple of manufactors of printservers that have support for the TN5250E protocoll, Axis, IO, MPItech.
