IBM will announce on Wednesday that the first quarter was good to the Systems and Technology Group. Migrations from Sun and HP to IBM systems and storage galloped along at a pace even faster than in previous quarters. More than 200 customers moved critical business workloads to IBM from the other leading vendors. This makes nearly 2,700 companies who have migrated to IBM in the past four years, most from Sun and HP. IBM attributes part of its success to the company's world-class Migration Factory that helps make moving to IBM platforms a much smoother transition. In addition to the 171 customers who moved to Power, the company had gains on each of its other hardware platforms during the first quarter. System x had 21 migrations from other vendors, System z 16, and Storage 27--all from either HP or Sun.
