BCD Software on Monday introduced new versions of its Web enabling solution, Presto, and its IBM i-hosted Web portal solution, Nexus Portal.

Presto 3 includes database driven drop-down boxes, dynamic SmartCharts, SQL queries, JavaScript events along with mouse and cursor enhancements as well as a number of other improvements over V2.

Nexus Portal V4 includes support for LDAP, a cross-platform client server protocol, that now gives administrators three ways to authenticate users. V4 supports authenticating users against LDAP and Active Directory making it easier to manage users and improves their overall experience.

By increasing Web standards compliance of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in Nexus V4, developers at BCD are able to offer users support for Firefox and Chrome browsers, as well as for the site administration interface. Restructuring the CSS and JavaScript code also has improved the speed of the solution while improved password security and better encryption handling have beefed up overall security.

BCD continues to provide Nexus Portal free to users who take monthly support.
