AS/400 and e-mail

This does not cover all of your questions, but you can E-Mail AS/400 objects by using the SNDDST command, , , , , providing you are using the SMTP server on the AS/400. The SNDDST command may be accessed by an RPG IV program through the QCMDEXC API. There are other mail APIs that also may be used. Dave

Hi, Can someone please help me out??? I have an RPG IV program that reads through an FTP log file. The program determines if an error occurred during the file transfer process. If an error has occurred, it simply sets on (*ON) an error indicator. I have defined Fail and my error indicator. This part of my program works beautifully. Here is my dilemna.... If an error has occurred (ie. Fail = *On) , I would like to send an e-mail to someone alerting them of this error. The recipient of the e-mail has not been determined, but for now, it can be me. Here are my questions.... Is RPG IV capable of sending e-mails ? Do I have to start something or enable something on our AS400 to do this ? And if so, does it open a new can of worms on security ?? (We do not have a security or system administrator and I am not qualified to analyze or implement security procedures) Can this program be written in Java ? I have attached my program code. Please excuse me if I have posted in the wrong section. If so, please let me know, and I will re-posted in the proper section. Thanks for all your help !!
