    Default Subfile question

Hi Michael. It is possible to have more than one active subfile displayed at one time. I think the number is about twenty, but I have never used more than three, myself. You can have side-by-side and over-and-under subfiles. I have never tried to overlay a subfile with another subfile. Side by side Op Cust Order Date * Order Item Qty X 12345 301231 01-01-99 * 301231 Widget 37,000 _ 12345 251422 02-07-99 * 301231 Gadget 4,200 _ 12345 854245 03-12-01 * 301231 Whatsit 5,000 In this example, the subfile on the right is fed by the selection of "X" on the left side. To show them both, you perform a write to both subfiles as you would normally, but you EXFMT only the subfile you want to be the ACTIVE or controlling subfile. Both subfiles have FOOTER, SFL and SFLCTL records. A subfile becomes active if the user places the cursor on the desired subfile and presses ENTER or a function key to drive which one is WRITE'ed or EXFMT'ed. The Over and Under is basically the same, however as defined by the name, one subfile takes up the top portion of the display and the second takes up the bottom portion. -Mean 1

    Default Subfile question

Is there a way to get two separate subfiles to display on the screen next to one another? Is it also possible to get text or input fields to display on the screen next to a subfile as well? Is there some kind of limitation that a subfile can only reside by itself on it's own line? I have an application that I want to write where I have a small subfile with two fields, and I want to utilized to leftover space on the same line where the subfile is with entry fields, and text. If this is totally not possible then I will design my screen a different way. Michael Soucy

    Default Subfile question

Hi Mean 1, Can you go into more more details about DDS coding. Is there any special DDS keywords that are needed? I tried to display two subfiles side by side, and I couldn't get it to work. All I would see on the screen is one subfile. Both subfiles have the DDS keyword OVERLAY. Michael Soucy
