Thread: SQL/Operations Navigator and DDS Field Reference File

Default SQL/Operations Navigator and DDS Field Reference File

I am inquiring about the old DDS Field Reference File versus the new Operations Navigator and SQL. I am relatively new to RPG and this company. I started both in April 2004. I am wondering if we might have missed a step along the way. IBM originally steered us in the direction of Field Reference Files. Over the years however our field reference file has expanded to an unmanageable size. Also with Operations Navigator and SQL, we have been kind of getting away from using the unmanageable beast called the field reference file. Does anyone know of how we can use field reference files in Operations Navigator and/or SQL?

The September issue of iSeriesNews magazine addresses this subject on page 6 in their Feedback section. This feedback in turns refers to the May 2005 issue of the magazine which contains several in depth articles on the subject. Good luck as you continue to learn more about the iSeries.
