If you follow girls fastpitch softball then you know that Southern California is the Mecca for the sport. Go to any of the national travel ball tournaments such as ASA, AFA, Triple Crown, etc. and you'll see mostly teams from Southern California in the 12u thru 18u age brackets. Look at any of the top 20 college teams, no matter where they are in the country, and their lineup is loaded with players from Southern California. In that vain, I'm very proud that my daughter, as a freshman, plays for Westlake High School, a team that the Los Angeles Daily News has ranked 6th. It should be a tough team for years to come since there are only 4 seniors and no juniors on the team. However, that pales in comparison to the accomplishment that her varsity team has made. To see why I'm so proud and what they've done just jump to www.whssoftball.com. I think you'll understand. chuck Opinions expressed are not necessarily those of my employer.
