VPN or SPN Internet and AS400

I am interested in setting up a Virtual Private Network over the Internet to access my AS400 from remote locations. I have heard about Checkpoint software to establish a firewall but I am on a quest for knowledge. My conncetivity will utilize ADSL lines through direct modem conncetions. I am hoping to end the monthly point to point data lines which are quite costly. Is anyone on the forum using this software or currently using a Virtual or Secure Private Network over the Internet I would greatly appreciate your comments. Thanking you in advance, Wade

We are using the checkpoint firewall. For VPN, we are using Shiva from Intel. It is a costly setup but it works very well. We are linked to the internet via a T1 line and internally, all of our sites (about 70 sites with about 40 AS/400) are internally linked trought frame relay or direct ISDN connection.

The corporation I currently work for is using Checkpoint for the firewall and the VPN client (the client name is SecuRemote). I can't speak to the maintenance/management on the firewall end, only the client side. We've had some struggles, but I honestly think those have been more network configuration issues than SecuRemote. As we began to learn the tricks, it's become easier and easier to set up. And once it's running smoothly, it seems to stay pretty stable.
