In the past we had our PC users backup to a shared folder on the AS/400, which we then wrote to tape and cleared. With the number of PC's we have now, and the size of their disk drives, this is no longer a viable option due to DASD limits on our AS/400, so we have a network-attached 40GB backup server. Now I need to be able to backup that server. We have multi-tape libraries in both 3490 and 3570 formats attached to our AS/400, and I'd like to know if anyone knows a way to send the data from the backup server directly to tape without having to move the data to an intermediate storage area on the AS/400.
