    Default Printer problems

Hi We have been recently changing our system over to TCP. We have a printer that is set up on the as/400 called P6. Whats happening is the print jobs are being automatically put on hold. If I release one it won't print and returns to being on hold. We reinstalled our client access for windows 95 and reinstalled the printer. All the users jobs are going to the right outque, it just won't print. I restarted the printer also. I also checked the writer status which is fine and the outque status is RLS/WTR. Any help would be great. Thanks Frank

If you look at the joblogs, you will probably see message saying you use some attributes not permitted for this printer (for example your program could try to print 198 characters in a associated printer file which only 132 are permitted), that's why the print jobs go immediately in "Hold" even if you try to restart printer. there is other possibilities, for example bad printer configuration, but we need some indications to help you

Hi I only get a message that says to restart the printer. Which I have done. I shutdown the PC it's connected to and restarted. I copied this message. Cause . . . . . : Operator action is required to continue. Recovery . . . : If printing to a 4224 printer and 03 is displayed on the operator panel, press the Load/Eject key; otherwise, do the following: Press the Stop key only if the Start and Stop keys are two separate keys, and then press the Start key, the Ready key, or the Start/Stop key. I hope this helps Frank

You could try CHGMSGQ for QSYSOPR and change the delivery method to *notify. This has worked for me.
