Thread: Express and Local

    Default Express and Local

I will be installing V4R5 CA Express on an AS/400. The shop is currently at CA/400 V3R2, and OS/400 V4R3. This will be in conjunction with an OS/400 release upgrade to V4R5. The plan is to upgrade CA/400 each PC on an "as needed" basis. Is there a problem with running CA/400 V3R2 on a PC while the AS/400 is at V4R5? TIA, Dave

Dave, We just went to OS/400 V4R5, and CA/E 4.5. We have local and remote clients running a mix of CA 3.2, 4.4, and 4.5. Everything works. One gotcha. CA/E V4R5 replaces the feature 5769XE1 for 4.4. If version checking is running in the client for 4.4 it sees the difference but does nothing about it. You have to install 4.5 overtop of 4.4. Note: I did not have to de-install 4.4. It sent a window saying there was a difference and asking for continuance. I do have one WIN 2K laptop with a problem. I installed on my NT work station from the QIBM folder on the 400. I had one of my techies copy the folder to a server and he did his 2K install from it. He can't get anything to work, yet. We are still looking to see if anything was missed in the copy. HTH. Happy New Year. Jack

Thanks Jack. This shop is not that complicated. Dave
