Charles, I made the change to the Ethernet line description as you suggested. Could not find a DIX setting anywhere, NT4 does not allow properties selection on the DLC protocol. NS Router now takes much longer to tell me it can't connect. Probable configuration error. I did convert the server to NT4 over the weekend and made it the PDC. Any other ideas? So you would need to reinstall NT to set it up as a domain controller. What are you using to connect to the AS/400? ie. What is the connection type listed in the Client Access Connections for the system you are tring to connect to. I currently am using Netsoft Router over 802.2. The only problem that I had was the ethernet frame types. I needed to set the DLC protocol "properties->advanced" Ethernet DIX = 0 (that's a zero BTW). Then on the AS/400 side I had to set the Ethernet standard of the Line description to *IEEE8023 instead of the default of *ALL. Other than that I simply followed the directions in the CA 95/NT and IPCS manual and things are working great. BTW: I have an NT 4.0 server and am using only integration services for the FSIOP (now called the IPCS). So the IPCS works just like a regular network card. If you have any other questions let me know. Charles Wilt Miami Luken, Inc.
Charles, Thank you so much for the help on the phone. The adapter address was the key to the problem. Chapter 9 of the CA95/NT book. Once specified correctly, the router found the 400 immediately. (Martin, and all others who may think I went mad replying to this thread. It's not my fault, really! I would post the reply, I would receive the famous "Server not responding", reload the reply and send again and would receive a message along the lines of "couldn't find the message file". And since it took many times for this to finally succeed, all of the duplicates are the result.) BR
