    Default Netware-Office 97 HELP!

In the last month, with no pattern that we can track down, when users do a save or more often a save as in Excel and Word, their pc goes to a black screen. They have to reboot their pc. Sometimes the document will be saved and they can access it, but most times they lose their work. This has nothing to do with AS/400 connectivity. We use Novel Netware 4.1, and our Network Admin. is at a lost as to how to fix the problem. He has reinstalled Office. He has searched the Novel & Microsoft web sites, and pretty much exhausted his extensive sources. Is this happening to anyone else? Our users are out of patience. The other problem that has also surfaced at about the same time, is when we try to open an Excel doc in Windows Explorer, it will only check c:for the exe. It won't start Excel off the network.

The users are saving and save as to a network drive. The pc's have at least 16 to 24 meg ram. The save problem can happen the first time in the morning, or later in the day. Once it happens, it seems to happen more often.

Barb do the users boot their machines by night. It seems that programs are splitting memory under Windows and after a while the whole big 'sea' is as 'arhipelago', not enough space for manouvers. I have noticed, that those who shut only display by night are more often with troubles than those who shut down also the central unit.
