    Default Qbatch subsystems Jobs

My name is Pedro. I have a 9401-150 running V4R3. On my Qbatch subsystem, every time a scheduled job starts to process it enters a loop and stays that way forever. If I try to start the job again, it enters the same loop until the AS400 runs out of processing power. Do you have any idea of what I should do? Is there a PTF that solves this problem? Thanks in advance for your response.

A few questions, first: Is it always the same program? Or do all programs submitted to that subsystem loop, and they don't loop if you submit them to some other subystem? Have you tried submitting to job queue QPGMR to run in that subsystem? Are you at the latest cum PTF level? Have you checked the Preventive Service Planning documents?

No, it isnt always the same job. Every program I try to run under Qbatch runs into a loop. If I run any of the jobs under other subsystems (QINTER and QCTL), they will run evenly. No problem here. I also created another subsystem of my own named PROCESS. The jobs run OK under it... > Have you tried submitting to job queue QPGMR to run in that subsystem? No, I havent tried this, I think it wouldnt help... Do you think it would? The nature of my job has nothing to do with QPGMR... >Are you at the latest cum PTF level? Yes I am. >Have you checked the Preventive Service Planning documents? Yes I have... I found no report of this problem. The AS/400 is not generation any documentation/LOG. It seems to the server it is processing, but it never ends... He doesnt know he enters a loop.

I suggested QPGMR as a handy "other" subsystem. What you did by submitting to QCTL and QINTER did the same thing: verify that it's definitely something with the subsystem. Next question: how do you know it's actually looping, as opposed to running so slowly that it appears to be looping? Have you checked out how that subsystem is defined? Perhaps there's a major resource shortage for that subsystem? If you want to do a cut and paste of the subsystem description and related bits of data to your next posting, some of us could compare to our own QBATCH configurations? Do you have support available from IBM, or are you on a per-call basis?

This problem was solved yesterday. Thank you all very much. What happened was that some time ago, when V4R1 was installed on that system, the supervisor did not have all medias with him, so he installed the system with missing parts... When V4R3 was installed, we did not chose the Scratch install, but made our choice on 'keeping' the previous system configurations... Everything is OK now... We simply reinstalled all the system. Again, thank you.
