Default Resolving URL address from AS/400 - How does DNS work?

I've got 2 AS/400 both on V4R4M0, both configured with identical TCP/IP settings (for the most part). We have a T1 for internet access. One AS/400 can ping a URL address (i.e. AOL.COM returns its IP address) the other AS/400 can't find the address. The message comes back with "Unknown Host". The AS/400 that can't resolve URL's has Domino running on it and the AS/400 HTTP server is not running. Domino is handling the HTTP activities. Today we thought the firewall could be the problem, so we shut it down and it still didn't work. The main problem is the Domino server can not send e-mail, because it can't resolve the e-mail address (jsmith@myemailaddress.com)... What things can we try to fix the situation? Thanks! Scott

This is kind of an old message, but if you are still having this problem, be sure to look closely at the TCP/IP routes. If both AS/400s are in the same subnet, you are using external DNS, and you are sharing the same (non-AS400) firewall, then they should both have the same *DFTROUTE entries. Do a CFGTCP and take option "2". Good luck! JC
