    Default Spool Files

I am moving from one As400 to another As400. The problem being faced is in moving the Spool Files so that they retain the same date, user data and user name . Is there any 3rd party tool or any other tool which can help me in this process of moving the spool files without changing the creation date/user name/user data. Thks in Advance

I used it in one of my prior jobs, but I can't remember too much of the details other than it seemed to work well. The vendor is Magellan Software and you can get info from their web site: http://www.spyview.com/ They have more products now than they did a few years ago. Good luck!

Have a look at MC March 2000 article "Three steps to report duplication and distribution". Bradley Stone presented an utility to duplicate spool files SPL2SPL. BTW the attribute of the original spool file are retained. HTH

Save Output Queue (SOQ) $499 Generic Software, Inc. Save Output Queue (SOQ) lets you archive, retrieve, delete, duplicate, or prepare for microfiche a single spool file or group of files. SOQ groups spool files by output queue name, job name, user name, job number, spool file name, user data, spool file status, forms type, printer file name, creation date, and age in days. The product can also restore an output queue at any time or multiple times.

I'm not sure about the product but have had good results with the cpmpany: www.lxicorp.com has a spool tool.

I think date change might be a problem. If you restore an object to another box, won't it have a new date? bobh
