    Default QUSRTOOL's RBLDBF

I need to add some fields to three of our largest files. They are also three of our most heavily used files. I would like to use the QUSRTOOL rebuild database file tool (RBLDBF) but it usually errors out. I understand that there is a fix for that problem, but I can't locate it. Does anyone know how to fix RBLDBF? Or, if not, does anyone have any recommendation for a third party utility that performs a similar function? Thanks in advance for your help. TA

This actually sounds like a job for the IBM command CHGPF. If you specify a source file and member on the CHGPF command, the AS/400 will rebuild the file. There are circumstances where it won't work, but for adding fields it works great. I've never had a problem. You might want to look into it. src="//www.zappie.net/java/_derived/index.htm_cmp_zero110_vbtn_p.gif" width="140" height="60" border="0" alt="Zappie's Java Home" align="middle"> Zappie! - where the AS/400 speaks Java with an RPG accent

Thanks but CHGPF doesn't help. I need something that will rebuild not only the PF but all LFs, join files, etc. And recompile all programs, display files, etc. In short, I need something that will do it all. These files I need to rebuild are DEEPLY imbedded, entwined and otherwise have their sticky-little-fingers into every imaginable corner of my system. I have heard of a product called Hawkeye, but I haven't come up with any info yet. TA

I put the PC-file (BMP, GIF, TIF, JPEG, PCX,...) in a folder and try to run the command. The system gives me an error message stating that I need a PC-file in IOCA-format. What is this and can I convert my PC-Imagefile into a IOCA-file (IOCA=Image Object Content Architecture ?) Hi, Geert. You must install IBM AFP print driver ( for instance 3112)on your PC. Open image, print it to file and convert that file to segment. Actualy, it is some more steps in that process. If you look at MC forums - there was recent discussions about that.

One more unsolicited testimonial for encapsulating database I/O within server programs smile... href="//www.zappie.net/java"> src="//www.zappie.net/java/_derived/index.htm_cmp_zero110_vbtn_p.gif" width="140" height="60" border="0" alt="Zappie's Java Home" align="middle"> Zappie! - where the AS/400 speaks Java with an RPG accent

The step of my code is not include the program but I can tell you how also. 1. RNMOBJ your old structure PF this is to keep the information of related LF and your data. 2. Create your new structure PF. 3. Use DSPDBR on your renamed PF and have the output as a file. 4. Use the output file in step 3. to be your input for recreated your LF. 5. Copy data from your renamed PF to your new PF. Don't forget *MAP *DROP. 6. For the program doing just the same step. Use FNDSTRPDM to find which program using the file. And have it in output file. 7. Using output file in step 6. to be your input file SBMJOB create your programs. HTH.
