Thread: SMTP configuration

    Default SMTP configuration

I have been asked to look into the possibility of transfering a weekly file from an AS/400 (V4R4M0) to an outside customer via our internet connection. All the manuals I have appear to use OfficeVision/400 as the access method. Is it possible to send an e-mail from an AS/400 with a data file contained in it, without the use of OV/400? Thanks for your help in advance.

We recently changed our e-mail server and now cannot send e-mail from the AS/400. On the 400 we added a host table entry with the new ip address and name of the new server. Also, we changed the smtp attributes to point to the new mail server name. Stopped and re-started the services but now cannot send mail. Can anyone give me an idea as to what settings we might be missing?

Yes. It is possible to send e-mail off the 400 without Office Vision. Check into the Send Distribution (SNDDST) command.
