I changed my greenscreen keyboard map so that alt-n is ñ, and ctrl-shift-n is Ñ. They should be as acceptable as any other alphanumeric EBCDIC character in a text string. You might have troubles creating an OS/400 object name with an Ñ, or using it in a command parm depending on how the parm's defined. We run an English-only (2924) system. ñ = 0x49, Ñ = 0x69.

Thanks, that work great. Is there a way to query the value in SQL whether the user types senor or señor and still get a hit?

It depends on your language environment but try *LANGIDSHR for sort sequence. For interactive SQL use F13, Change session attributes, and page to the second panel.

Is there a way, without switching the iSeries into Spanish language mode, to type and store in a database file Spanish words with their accent marks such as "señor"?
