    Default Disaster Recovery

Our company has begun looking at our Disaster Recovery plan: are there particular areas that we should be aware of regarding our AS400? Thanks!

In terms of a disaster recovery the AS/400 is pretty much the same as any device that where data is stored. In other words, the elements of disaster recovery for a mainframe, PC, Unix, or Macintosh, would also apply to the AS/400. Dave

The term Disaster Recovery should also include Business Recovery. In the event of a major disaster, an up and running AS400 may not be much use if there is no plan for the actual Business to recover. The plan should cover all aspects of the Business in order to allow trading to continue and clients to be serviced within minimum timescales after a disaster occurs. Regards Phil

Mark, You may want to check out the offerings from Maximum Availability for D/R. Basically hot backup to a second AS/400 using OS/400 remote journaling and their product *NoMax which applies the changes to a replicate database. www.maxava.com Cheers, Simon.
