Default Upgrade from V4R4 to V5R1

I did my usual "just do it" without reading all the particulars on V5R1. OfficeVision is not only not supported in V5R1 ("not ported" is the IBM phrase), but it is deleted from the system. The IPCS is not supported and if you run TCP/IP on an ethernet card that was configured with the IPCS, you will have to physically remove the IPCS and move the ethernet card. Otherwise the upgrade went fine and the system is running smoothly. I had to write a calendar/events/messaging system from scratch to replace the OV400 calendar. That took a few hours, but is running just fine also.

Vaughn: Thanks for your input. I had been advised to upgrade to V4R5, but based on your input and that of others I will go straight to V5R1. Tom.

Default Upgrade from V4R4 to V5R1

I am in the process of upgrading v4r5 to v5r1 next week. I do not see any information about losing my IPCS or ethernet card running IP. Can you tell me more?

Has anyone upgraded OS/400 from V4R4 to V5R1? If so, how did it go? Any hints or tips? Thanks, Tom.
