As I understand it, you can think of the host table as similar to the HOSTS file found on Windows PCs. Both are like a local DNS for that computer, but remote systems can't use them to resolve IP addresses. <p>As with a DNS in your network (or on the Internet for that matter), you can't configure the same name for every IP address in the host table. Each must have its own unique name or set of unique names.

hi there, <p> we have a new iseries and we are planning to separate the users from different network cards (diff IOP) for performance purposes. <p> My question is, after i configured the other card with different IP address, do i need to put them on the host table? what hostname do i need to put? does the host table will allow same hostname on different ip address? <p> because we will configure the client connection thru hostname. <p>thanks.
