Have you sent this problem to support@asc-iseries.com?

It may have been fixed in a recent version; an *OMIT problem was fixed <BR>
in 8.5.157, and the current version is 8.5.168.

Thanks Ken. Yes, I've been working with ASC trying to figure this out. We upgraded to version 8.5.112 early last month and no one at ASC said anything about a known problem with the *OMIT function. We are supposed to be receiving the latest version of the product today as they think we may have received a "defective" disk. Do you have or know of any documentation on this problem & fix?

They have a doc of the changes/additions/versions, <BR>
with the most recent at the top, at <p><a href="http://smtp.asc-iseries.com/asc/docs/sq_qtxtsrc.txt">http://smtp.asc-iseries.com/asc/docs/sq_qtxtsrc.txt</a> <p>It looks like their server is down at the moment; I'm unable to download any documentation from <BR>
<a href="http://www.asc-iseries.com/download/doc.htm">http://www.asc-iseries.com/download/doc.htm</a> <p>The same info is on your system when you install SEQUEL, in file SEQUEL/QTXTSRC member CHANGES. There's a similar file in library ESEND.

Thanks Ken. When I talked with the people at ASC one of the first things I asked was if there was a known problem of this nature. They said no one had reported any problem like this. We just completed upgrading to the latest version and ,like you said, I found the text showing the exact problem I described to them. I can't tell you the amount of time we've wasted researching and re-writing views because of this.

That's unfortunate; I've usually found ASC tech support to be pretty good about knowing their current patches.

They are. This one just seemed to slip by them somehow. According to the notes in my previous release, this problem should have been resolved so that may have thrown them off. Thanks again for all your assistance Ken!

I have a peculiar problem with SEQUEL parameter views. We just upgraded to the latest version allowing connections to a remote database. Since then, none of our parameter views omitting the first variable will work on the iSeries (V5R3) when run within a program. However they will run interactively using ASC's ViewPoint (GUI) when connected to the same iSeries. And if we use the green screen to view the sql statement created prior to running the view, the statement does not exclude the first parameter using *OMIT. But if we perform the same operation a second time, the correct statement is created and the view runs normally interactively. These views were created between 2000 & 2004. Also, when we restored the previous version of SEQUEL, the view still failed to run. We've applied the standard PTF's to both of our iSeries, but can't think of anything that would cause this problem. Has anyone else run into anything similar? Thanks. <p><!--mccodelink_begin--> <BR>

ASC's technicans assisted us in rewriting our more critical parameter views as they overnighted the lastest version (8.5.168). After installing and testing with the original views, the problem was resolved. ASC also followed up with us throughout this situation and apologized for the problem.
